Good is...? More packaging mock ups

Based on my chosen packaging design, I decided to create mock ups to gain insight into how it would be held, opened and ultimately, know what size I want the final outcome to be. Although this may be affected by the contents themselves, I don't want a box which is too large and unnecessary nor a box which is too small to fit 5 objects (one of which being a tall test tube).

I first of all created a large-scale box design which was 320x220x40mm (LxWxH). As these were initial mock ups, I drew the net through trial and error. Although I was able to see how the folds worked with such a large scale design, it was far too big.

The following uses two lids which fold over, at alternate ends, on top of each other (as shown from the 3rd image onwards). This was a much smaller prototype than above, almost less than half the size - 140x100x20mm (LxWxH). I believe this is the most effective as I am able to add information onto the second inner lid as opposed to an additional leaflet inside the pack itself.

I then added a bellyband/sleeve as demonstrated in my initial design ideas to keep the pack in place; this was due to the lid opening by itself. This sleeve will be a contrasting colour to the pack - most probably a grey card.

I decided that a 260x220x30mm box with a 70x220mm sleeve was an adequate size - this may alter, however, when I finally design and package the contents.
