Good is...? Icon development

Icons for the 5 senses to be applied to content packaging in the nostalgia pack. I used inspiration from the icons I collated from existing sources. I used a 4px stroke throughout, simply as a starting point.

Taste: Rather than using a mouth to envision taste (as this can be confused with speech), I decided to use a tongue instead. The tongue shape comprised simply of a rectangle and a circle which was then outlined. Two additional lines were added either side to give the impression the tongue was sticking out.

Touch: The hand uses 5 simple shapes - 5 rounded rectangles and a circle. 4 lines were then added to highlight the edge of the fingers. I also looked at reducing the icon to just one finger to further the simplicity but decided the hand was more effective and easier to distinguish.

Hearing: Rather than creating a detailed, ear imagery, I began with just the outline. I then added detail to match the aesthetics of the other icons. This was simply created (roughly) with the pen tool and then altered slightly to create a smoother curve.

Thought I'd create a face...
