Based on my 'nostalgia pack' idea, I began devising packaging ideas to experiment with various formats. I looked at different methods of segmented packaging and unique ways of opening the packaging to reveal its contents.
The following is a simple box and lid with a slight indent to create thicker sides. Below this, are ways in which I could arrange the contents and what form these contents would take - whether they would be individual boxes or a lid with a thumb hole to lift and reveal.
This is based on the box I received from Graze (which was used as inspiration for a project in the first year). The thumb hole on the front face allows you to open the tab, revealing the segmented insert.
The following was inspired by this complex first aid kit. I was impressed by the interactivity therefore I used a similar pull where the pack opens via 2 sections either side, revealing the contents in the middle. The insert could use the same format as the designs above.
This tower design uses 4 separate square boxes which could either be attached or detachable in some way. These boxes could consist of 5 drawers which could be pulled out using a thumb hole - similar to a chest of drawers. I noticed that these resembled building boxes when detached which references the nostalgia concept.
