P/R/D - Web layouts

For the web designs, I wanted to incorporate a structured grid to reference the logo design / typeface I created. I created a 900px wide  canvas with 6 columns, each 140px with a 12px gutter. I used the same colour scheme throughout.

Initial design idea using a simple navigation and various sections. I included two portfolio images which the user could click on to navigate to the main gallery page.

I realised I needed some sort of indication to the user that these images were a link out to the gallery page so I added a full colour hover over image with a brief insight into the project with a 'view project' link. I also added a services content box to outline what Woodside have to offer.

I looked at arranging the contact details above the navigation to make it appear less compact. I used a light grey as to not distract too much from the content but be clear enough so users can easily use these as a point of contact.

To ensure the content was more vivid, I looked at having a white navigation and full colour content boxes for the main information. I used an orange logo design and hover over image for the navigation to keep it consistent.

They want their projects to be at the forefront of the design therefore I looked at enlarging the images to create more impact. I am unsure which design to go with so I will keep experimenting with different layout ideas.
