Top 10 - Progress Crit

Strengths

Really strong imagery
Colours work well
Great simple transitions between imagery

Areas for improvement

Consider integrating text to make it a little clearer
Possibly think about it being more descriptive
It's difficult to relate some of the images to the films

Considerations

Channel?
Adding sample type to the animation in order to make the images clearer
Consider speed of animation, 60 seconds is long and running out of content can happen quick

Action Plan

Think how the entire animation will over the 60 seconds. Do I slow the transitions down to accommodate the content? Possibly give 6 seconds per film for the main title sequence (aim for 5 to incorporate text). It's for my own sanity, it took me a while just to design a 5 second animation and there's still a lot more to do.

Experiment with type. As evident in the feedback, the concept needs more clarity. Although I wanted a sense of mystery with the films to keep the top ten list discrete, I think I need to add the titles (at least) to form a clearer animation.

Sound is a necessity, look for a backing track. Although I have sound effects, I need sound playing in the background to influence the pace of my animation. There needs to be a good balance between graphics and sound - the sound may ultimately influence my design decisions.

How does the title sequence translate into idents or vice versa? Will the idents consist of one film or a combination. It could possibly be quicker than the main title sequence - an almost overload of information. Maybe the icons form the title imagery towards the end? I need to give around 3 seconds for the title itself alongside the channel it will be shown. Where will the advert be shown? On other BBC channels or solely BBC three?
