Top 10 - Briefing / Design direction

Briefing

Prior to the initial concept / design direction crit tomorrow, we are required to create 5 concept boards outlining our design and visual direction for our idents and title sequence.

Take primary and secondary source material in the form of facts, statistics, quotes, figures, images, diagrams, photographs, type, words, colour, fonts, textures and so on which communicate your visual direction effectively. Will it be dark? Mysterious? Childlike? Vibrant? Use mock ups, screen grabs, colour swatches etc.

Design direction

For my project, I intend to incorporate simplified imagery of my top 10 films, chosen from iconic scenes within the films - for example, for 'Harry Potter', it design could take the form of a pair of glasses, a lighting scar, a wand etc. Through this, I don't necessarily need to reveal the name of the film which will give the countdown of the top 10 a sense of mystery.

Minimal movie posters
- Iconic imagery
- Minimal colour palette
- No photographic imagery

No stereotypical 'film/hollywood' imagery
- Hollywood sign
- Lights and cameras
- The Academy award
- Red carpet

Keep it simple an contemporary.

For tomorrows crit, devise and print the following 5 boards

1) Subject, theme, title, clarification
2) Specific content - facts, statistics, quotes, TV channel, time, target audience
3) Secondary source mterial - Other media, posters, animation, packaging, type
4) Chosen visual content - Photographs, diagrams, approach, words, type
5) Visual concept - fonts, textures, colour palette
