The following is based on one of the sequences I designed (sequence 3 in the storyboard sheet below). I intended for the letters to come from behind the viewer and continuously spin before it appears in the centre of the frame.
The first attempt I tried communicated the word 'spin' due to the literal interpretion - spinning letters but the letter 'i' span for too long, altering the 'flow' of the graphic. I used a rounded font to connote the circular motion of the word 'spin' and created this in Illustrator. I separated the letters onto individual letters so I could edit these individually when imported into After Effects. I ensured the letters didn't fall into place in consecutive order as to create a more interesting (I use that term loosely) outcome.
For the second attempt, I altered the pace of the letter 'i' in order to fit in keeping with the rest of the letters. I also added a motion blur to add a dynamic nature to the letterforms.
Here I simply decreased the scale and position of the final stage of the 'spin' graphic as to stay away from the somewhat uniform look of the previous state.
