No News is Good News - Brief

The brief we got given after the initial research task was to create 3 high impact posters in A3 2:1 format that deliver a personal identified message derived from the research. They should work as a set or series and be visually consistent. One must be made solely using type, another with image and the third with both. However, we are restricted to the use of two colours plus stock therefore we need to think carefully about layout, form and colour.

It needs to be kept simple, concise and to the point as to not distract the viewer (hence the restrictions on colour). It also needs to be factual, statistical, informed and specific. I will now start exploring various ideas in relation to the statement I derived which was as follows:

"Facebook's new places feature advertises whereabouts to burglars"

The new 'places' feature allows a user to 'check in' at a nearby place to inform their friends where they are at any given time. However, this highlights a flaw in Facebook security which may alarm some users. Facebook security (or the lack of it) is an ongoing issue which has conjured many other news headlines in the past. It was reported, however, that some people updating their status on their whereabouts or when they will next be going on holiday have been exploited by burglars. This new 'places' feature will only increase the risk of these incidents happening.

Also, for the research presentation, I displayed all my information on the following sheets. I used the Facebook's corporate colour, blue for the background and any information in white text.
