Visual Language - What is a Line?

Using the manipulation of line, frame, format, media and colour, you are to produce a body of work that visually investigates one of the following definitions of the word "line":

1) "A formation of people, objects or things on besides/behind the other."
2) "A connected series of events, actions or developments/"
3) "The descendents of one individual."
4) "A mark indicating postion, connection or boundaries."

After been given the brief, we were then required to think of various different approaches of producing visuals (through photography, animation, book design etc) along with themes & concepts such as queues, family trees and blue prints.

From this, we had to devise 10 combinations of one approach and a theme. These are the 10 I came up with:

1) 3D - Contour maps / To envision depth
2) Moving image - Timeline / Possibly evolution
3) Book - Timeline / Can be based on multiple themes
4) Collage - Map / Different maps overlaid to form an unusual outcome and show similarities/differences between populated towns & cities
5) Typography - Journey / Portray a journey through type only
6) Photography - Family tree / Photographs of different generations, possibly in book form
7) Digital illustration - Evolution / Progression through timeline
8) Photography - Sunset/sunrise
9) Infographics - Architecture / Comparison between buildings
10) Line drawing - Routes/paths / Football player on pitch etc

From this, we chose 3 possible combinations. Mine were:

1) Create 3D contour maps to envision depth and possibly integrate these into an infographic. (4)
2) Line drawing of someone's journey/path using a floor plan or existing map - an example of this would be a football players movement across a pitch during a match. (2)
3) Evolution depicted through digital illustration into a standard book or flipbook. (2)
