It was interesting to see that people have different reasons as to why they read;
- Offers an escape
- To be informed
- To be challenged
- To be entertained
- To enhance vocabulary
- To be inspired
Our chosen concept was to encourage people to engage with pre-existing literature, when they otherwise would not. We noticed from questionnaires and research that tv, film and the internet have distracted those who would otherwise be engaged with books. We therefore chose a suitable age demographic of 18-28 .
We wanted to take quotes from famous pieces of literature and place them in an entirely different context on a large scale in order to immediately attract attention and in turn, engage people with the quotes themselves. As a result, people may be more inclined to find out more as due to the ambiguity nature of the quote.
