Collection 100 - UFO Sightings

Here are various images/videos/reports which are supposedly sightings of UFO. Although UFO's does not necessarily mean aliens are visiting earth, it does mean they are unidentified. A limited minority of sightings require further investigation but most are identified.

Baghdad 2006 - Taken by a soldier on patrol

Photographs of this quality are rare among UFO photographs, but in this particular shot you can clearly see a disc shaped, metallic object. Upon closer inspection of the image, it appears that there has been no manipulation. The photo was taken by a US soldier during May of 2006 along Route Jackson in southern Baghdad. Apparently at the time of taking the photo, he was completely unaware of the metallic, disc shaped object hovering above. He is now AWOL from the military, and his whereabouts are unknown.

Manhattan 2010

Traffic ground to a halt and thousands looked to the skies at the strange object flying over Manhattan. Many have suggested a military explanation. One observer at Headhot wrote: 'They are magnesium flares on parachutes. They are used to light up battlefields.

Yorkshire, England 2010

A UFO seen hovering over Rotherham was spotted days later 50 miles away in Harrogate. Sylvia Horsman saw the craft with three lights moving slowly across the North Yorkshire sky and reported it was there for around 30 minutes.

Mongolia 2010

A major airport was forced to shut down to prevent packed passenger jets crashing into a UFO. The "flat and tubular" object hovered two miles from Bootee in Inner Mongolia, a part of China. Three flights from Chinese cities Beijing and Shanghai were diverted to nearby airports. It was the third mysterious UFO sighting in 2010 to have resulted in Chinese airfields being closed.

1) WIKILEAKS chief: Expect UFO talk in future files

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said on Friday that there were some references to UFOs in "yet-to-be-published" confidential files obtained from the U.S. government.

In an online chat hosted by the U.K.'s Guardian newspaper, he also said that no one has been harmed by his organization's release of troves of secret documents.

"WikiLeaks has a four-year publishing history. During that time there has been no credible allegation, even by organizations like the Pentagon, that even a single person has come to harm as a result of our activities," Assange said in response to a reader's question. "This is despite much-attempted manipulation and spin trying to lead people to a counter-factual conclusion. We do not expect any change in this regard."

Asked if he has ever been forwarded documents dealing with UFOs or extraterrestrials, Assange responded, "Many weirdos e-mail us about UFOs or how they discovered that they were the anti-Christ whilst talking with their ex-wife at a garden party over a pot plant. However, as yet they have not satisfied two of our publishing rules: 1) that the documents not be self-authored; 2) that they be original.

"However, it is worth noting that in yet-to-be-published parts of the Cablegate archive, there are indeed references to UFOs."

2) Caves on Mars could harbour alien life say scientists


Caves have been found on Mars - and they could be home to alien life, scientists said yesterday. The entrances to seven possible caverns on the slopes of a 16km-high Martian volcano called Arsia Mons were spotted by Nasa satellites.

The find will fuel suggestions that life may exist in 'underground habitats' on the Red Planet.
The caves could one day become shelters for astronauts, scientists at the US space agency said.

The holes named Dena, Chloe, Wendy, Annie, Abbey, Nicki and Jeanne were described as 'very dark, nearly circular features' ranging from about 100m to 250m across.

They may be at least 100m deep and the only natural structures capable of protecting life from meteor strikes, radiation and solar flares that bombard the planet's surface.

Recent technology advances have meant scientists have been able to examine the surface of Mars in unprecedented detail. Astronomer Tim Titus of the US Geological-Survey said: "Somewhere on Mars, caves might provide a protected niche for past or current life. "Whether these are just deep vertical shafts or openings into big caverns, they are entries to under the surface of Mars."

3) UFO sightings over Britain more than triple

The so-called "X Files" show that there have been 394 claims reported to the MoD's UFO desk from January until the end of last month, making it by far the "busiest" year on record.

Last year, there were only 118 sightings over the same period. The previous highest number was in 1997 – the first for which figures are available – when there were 331 reports over the same period.
Experts say Britain is experiencing a "flap" – the term Ufologists use to describe a concentrated period of sightings. Many of the reports are of UFOs spotted at night time and describe seeing strange lights in the sky. However, some are seen in daylight.

One report was from a pilot in an aircraft flying at about 4,500ft over Otmoor, in Oxfordshire, who saw a shiny, black, flying cylinder, 20-30ft long, flying about 200ft higher. According to the documents, the report was forwarded on to the UFO Desk by air traffic controllers.

Gary Heseltine, a British Transport Police officer and UFO expert, said: "There has certainly been a big increase in sightings in Britain over the last 12 months. "We are in the midst of a flap. The sightings reported to the MoD will give an indication, but the actual numbers of sightings will be much higher, because many will not contact officials, for fear of ridicule."

The "flap" comes as a new book reveals the long history of UFO sightings in Britain. Dr David Clark studied tens of thousands of pages of official documents relating to UFOs, and kept in the National Archives, in Kew, which date back to before the First World War.

UFO sightings detailed in Dr Clarke's book include:

- The crew of a Lancaster bomber, returning from a raid over Turin in November 1942, reported seeing an object 200-300ft in length travelling at around 500mph.
- A Lancaster crew returning from a raid over southern France in 1944 reported seeing an "an enormous string of lights" on the starboard side of the plane. Ronald Claridge, the radio operator, said they were part of an "enormous disk". All the crew watched as the shape tracked alongside them for about three minutes, before suddenly accelerating away ahead of them.
- On the night of 20 March 1941, with the threat of a German invasion still strong, five separate coastal radar stations reported massive formations of aircraft heading towards Britain, but when fighters were scrambled, they could find nothing. The same phenomenon occurred the following night and was repeated over the following weeks. The cause was never discovered.
- In 1956 a US fighter was scrambled from an airbase in Kent to shoot down a UFO tracked by radar over East Anglia. He found the UFO on his radar and "locked on" to the target but as he began to close in, it vanished.

Collection 100 - Crop Circles

A crop circle (or crop formation) is a large pattern created by the flattening of a crop. Although the origin of crop formations are unknown, the documented cases have substantially increased from the 1970s to current times. Twenty-six countries ended up reporting approximately ten-thousand crop circles,since the 70s and 90% of those were located in southern England.


Some crop formations are paid for by companies who use them as advertising but various paranormal, ufological and anomalistic investigators believe that they were created by bizarre phenomena or used as communication from extraterrestrials.

Avatar (2009)

Paul is an ensemble science fiction comedy film featuring two British comic geeks go on a road trip through America. On the way, they discover an alien named Paul at Area 51.

Signs (2002)

In Bucks County, Pennsylvania, a five-hundred-foot crop circle is found on the farm of Graham Hess, the town's reverend. The circles cause a media frenzy and test Hess's faith as he journeys to find out the truth behind the crop circles. 

War of the Worlds (2005)
