Speaking from Experience - Refined concept

After the first crit, it was noted that there may be too much information in one handbook - it will be more work for me and recipients of the guide may not digest all the content. As I had designed several icons for various facilities and resources around college, it was suggested I focus moreso on the signage around the college. I will therefore use this concept as the basis of my work but also use aspects of my previous ideas such as creating a map in order to guide students around the college efficiently. The icons and their respective colours will be used throughout.

Indesign - Initial layout ideas

Images were simply took from Facebook but I want to try and get some professional looking shots instead. I have yet to create a body copy therefore placeholder was used to envision what it may look like.

Type & Grid - Magazine layouts

Although I wasn't in for the first type & grid seminar, I was told to bring in 12 alternative layout designs of an already existing magazine page. I decided to use the following DPS and manipulate them both as I thought the article/gallery was interesting. Apart from the green header and imagery, there is no vibrancy or energy which it what Brazil design culture is characterised by (as stated in the sub heading). However, the layout itself works extremely well.

These are the designs I came up with. I experimented using existing imagery and ones which I thought would benefit the article and reinforce its message/concept.
