The 3 basic principles of design are to persuade, inform or instruct.

Issues raised:

• Look at combining the 3D type (earlier design ideas) within the set of 3 as this concept seemed to be more effective.
• Focus on the typographic forum without using imagery - possibly remove the TV's so the type is the predominant feature.
• Look at having more variation between the 3 posters.

Although I am not entirely happy with these designs, due to the short space of time available, I have to work with this concept - combining old with new technology and vice versa. Here I have experimented with different compositions and design ideas.

A quote regarding the future of 3D technology:

Just experimenting with some design ideas though these do not convey 'opposites' in the sense of 2D and 3D but possibly in the sense of old technology vs. new technology instead.

Design is About Doing - A 3D, 2D

Using simple crafting, I wanted to create 3D lettering as part of my 2D/3D opposite typographic posters. I therefore decided to create a 3D, '2D' but as this was just a prototype, I crafted it by hand as opposed to creating a net. I will possibly create a net however, if I end up using photographic imagery in my final poster designs.

(It was too tricky to stick the inside piece therefore for the prototype, I left it as it is)

Once I created the 'D', I began experimenting with shadows:

I noticed when altering the position of the light that when positioned at the right angle, the shadow of the '2' along with the '2' itself seemed to form the number '3' (as in 3D) therefore I took more images to try and achieve a similar effect. However, I think it's hard to distinguish but hopefully the 3D, 2D portrays the concept enough that this can be a beneficial addition which could potentially enhance the concept.

I then removed the bottom of the number '2'.
